*Group decided to focus the day on Pageflakes.
*Mary Jeanne led the group in the creation of their own Pageflakes pages.
*During the setting up the Pageflakes pages, members discussed various ways to use this technology in their classrooms including: for homework, to link kids to websites, have kids create their own and use the "To Do" task list to keep track of assignments, etc.
*Members agreed to work on Pageflakes pages at home and bring back reactions to it next time.
*Group decided to meet the following C day at 11:30-12:00 (9/30/09) to continue their work.
September 30, 2009 11:30 am- 12:00 pm Computer Center
*Group discussed and shared the Pageflakes pages they had created last time. Updated members who were unable to attend the previous meeting.
*Mary Jeanne shared with the group that District Office had purchased 200 subscriptions of Voice Threads for us to try out. Group shared concerns that this won't even be enough for two teams to try the program. Discussed other concerns about how to divide them up. Ideally the group would like to have about 420 in order for us all to try out with our teams. Mary Jeanne will follow up with Demian. Jamie and Erin would like to try out the Voice Threads for an upcoming project on Inventions.
*Erin shared her Animoto she created using pictures from her team's field trip from the previous day. She is going to post this to her blackboard account for parents to view.
*Group decided to meet the following C day 11:30-12:00 (10/6/09) in the Computer Center. October 14, 2009 11:30 am-12:00 pm Computer Center
*Explored Animoto and how to set up all access for students. *Discussed the use of Animoto. *Mary Jeanne is going to go ahead and set up the Voice Threads accounts for students. There will be 188 accounts for students and we have reserved 10 for teachers. *Brainstormed ways to best use the Voice Threads accounts. *Jamie and Erin are going to pilot using this program with an Inventions project. *Jamie will contact the group to discuss a good meeting time for the rest of the group. November 19th , 2009 11:30 am-12:00 pm Computer Center
*Ashley (the Librarian intern) demonstrated to the group how to use “Glogster”:
This is free and students don’t need an email address to join.
A “Glog” is what you create on Gloster.
You create the “glog” then upload as a page on your wiki account.
To upload the created “glog” to your wiki: Go to “Dashboard” to “My Glogs” then embed in the wiki as a widget.
Can’t edit the “glog” on the wiki, but if you make changes on gloster, it will automatically make the changes onto the wiki as well.
Members of the PLC created Glogster accounts.
*Jamie and Erin shared their “Inventions Projects” kids created on Voicethread.
Shared frustrations and lessons they learned after doing the projects.
Demonstrated the process of making a voicethread.
Gave advice such as: students should create “identities” so can be individual, need to invite you as the teacher and it will send an email to your webmail so you can grade from there, etc.
The members of the Tech PLC are all going to receive user names and passwords to play around on the site and these will be their’s for the year.
*Mary Jeanne is going to be ordered at least 12 more microphones for the Learning Center; Jamie and Erin shared that it was difficult to do the project with two teams (215 students) with only FIVE microphones in the building. this is a link to a document explaining Glogster in depth:
This site is blocked at school, so you will need to set up the site at home- once you have your ning started, you need to email Joe Lorenzo who will then UNBLOCK your page for school.
Students can upload pictures, documents, videos, ext.
Students can have their own pages linked to the master page.
“You are the governor” of the page- can see everything that happens and settings so you have to okay anything (like pictures) before they are able to upload.
Must have an email to use the site because after signing up, they send you a confirmation email; If student does not have own email, may use parents’.
Ability to see who has not completed something if you have kids post onto the ning.
Ability to upload documents (word, powerpoint, ext.) to the ning in case students forget their flash drives
Todd's Ning must be invited by Todd in order to view
